Kavelo ("we", "our", or "us") built the Kavelo app as a commercial application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app and the choices you have associated with that data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our service:

• Account information: email address and display name when you create an account. We support sign-in via Google, Sign in with Apple, and email/password.
• Profile & health data: age, height, weight, dietary goals, and nutrition targets you enter manually.
• Food & nutrition logs: meals, food items, portion sizes, and nutritional values you record.
• Voice recordings: audio captured when you use the voice food-logging feature. Audio is processed in real time and not stored on our servers.
• Camera & images: photos or barcode scans you initiate to identify food items. Images are processed locally or via our AI provider and are not retained.
• Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and diagnostics.
• Usage data: in-app events and feature interactions collected via Firebase Analytics to improve the product.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide core app functionality (food logging, nutrition tracking, AI analysis).
• To personalise your experience based on your goals and dietary preferences.
• To send push notifications such as meal reminders (only if you grant permission).
• To diagnose crashes and fix bugs via Firebase Crashlytics.
• To process subscription payments via RevenueCat.
• To improve and develop new features based on aggregated usage patterns.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase – authentication, cloud storage, analytics, and crash reporting.
• Google Gemini API – AI-powered food and nutrition analysis.
• FatSecret Platform API – food database and nutritional information.
• USDA FoodData Central API – supplementary food and nutrient data.
• Open Food Facts – open food product database for barcode scanning.
• RevenueCat – in-app subscription management and purchase validation.

4. Camera & Microphone

Kavelo requests access to your camera to scan barcodes and photograph food for identification. Microphone access is used solely for the voice food-logging feature. Neither video nor audio is recorded or stored beyond the duration of a single interaction.

5. Storage & Local Data

Your food diary, weight entries, and settings are stored locally on your device and synchronised to your Firebase account so data is available across reinstalls. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app.

6. Notifications

With your permission we send local push notifications (e.g. meal reminders). You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or within the app.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

8. Children's Privacy

Kavelo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Export your data in a portable format.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy in the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised.
